Nabire, June 25, 2024 Mutiara Hitam Papua Foundation, in collaboration with the Nabire GKI Klasis, held a Sharing Session with the theme “Tips for Applying for LPDP Scholarships Batch 2 2024 for Affirmation Areas and Sons and Daughters of Papua for S2 & S3 Levels”. The event took place at the Maranatha Malompo Hall and aimed to provide important information about LPDP scholarships to people in Central Papua Province, especially in Nabire Regency.

CEO and founder of Mutiara Hitam Papua Foundation, Fred Bundah, explained that this event aims to expand access to information about LPDP scholarships. He hopes that more Central Papuans can take advantage of this opportunity to continue their education to a higher level.

“Activities like this will continue to be carried out because the LPDP scholarship opens registration twice a year, in February and June. With socialisation like this, it is hoped that more Papuan children will get the opportunity to study,” said Fred.

The event featured three speakers who shared their experiences and tips on LPDP scholarship registration:

1. Felix Degei, S.Pd., M.Ed.—2017 LPDP Alumni who graduated from The University of Adelaide, Australia. He explained about the LPDP scholarship and its supporting components.

2. Yeremias Ramandei, ST-LPDP Batch 1 Year 2024 scholarship recipient candidate (CPB), who explained the online scholarship registration procedure.

3. Fred Kees Charles Bundah, S.Si., CPB LPDP Batch 1 Year 2024, who provided tips on essay writing as an important part of the administrative selection.

The head of the GKI Nabire Klasis, Rev. Decky Maker, S.Si., Theol, highlighted that many Papuan children are unaware of this scholarship information. “We hope that this activity can help spread LPDP scholarship information more widely, especially in Nabire Regency,” said Decky Maker.

This activity was also attended by Plt. Secretary of the Central Papua Province Education and Culture Office, Fredi M. Edowai, SE, MDP. In his remarks, he emphasised that this socialisation activity was in line with the government's program to improve Central Papua's human resources.

“The government is here as a bridge to help Central Papuan children improve their English language skills, which are very important for getting scholarships, both at home and abroad,” he said.

Currently, the Central Papua Provincial Government is sending 100 Central Papuan children to TITIP Sentani and 32 Central Papuan youth to IALF Bali to strengthen their English skills. This program aims to make them better prepared to compete for scholarships, including the LPDP scholarship from the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia.

With activities like this, it is hoped that more Central Papuan children will be able to continue their education to a higher level and contribute to their region in the future.
